The cat ate my lunch

Last night I walked away and returned to find Smokey crouched on the table, face in the dinner leftovers. I don't know how long he was there and couldn't tell how much he ate, but there was a distinct oily smell on his nose. No remorse from this one. Just kept licking his chops with immense satisfaction long after I chased him from the table.

Warm spot

I walked away from my knitting for a moment and came back to this:
Smokey had taken my warm spot. And he was using my knitting as his footrest.

By the by, this happened before I got sick.

I sit on things 8

Smokey prefers paper over cardboard box.

"It's more comfortable for my delicate skin."

Smokey took care of me

Smokey has had a busy week. Over the weekend he helped us assemble the new cabinet. Then he busied himself cuddling up to me since I got sick on Monday. It was the worst cold I've had in a while. My body ached to the point I couldn't move and I felt chilled to the bone. Smokey must have sensed something was up because I was basically sleeping the whole day. On the worst night, Tuesday night, he climbed into bed with us. Then he stayed in bed with me the whole morning while I continued sleeping. He did his own thing in the afternoon, but in the evening, he was back at my side on the couch. First on the arm of the couch and then next to me on the seat. After I fed him his last meal for the day, he settled in next to me again. You should have seen the look on his face when I got up to go to bed. "Where are you going?" And watched with forlorn eyes as I moved away from him. As soon as he figured out I was going to bed, he, too, joined me in bed. This is the sweetest Smokey has been in a while. Who knew he could be so sweet again?

Or maybe Smokey was just taking advantage of my warm body. We're still under the stronghold of the polar vortex after all.

Smokey helps, too

We bought a new cabinet over the weekend. Smokey was very excited about the assembly process, which took us all night. Probably one of the most exciting days he's experienced in a while. He insisted on helping.

I will not be bribed

Smokey went under a car again but no amount of treats could get him come out. He is learning from past experience when we bribed him with his favorite treats.

I go home

There are days when I don't need to coax or coerce Smokey back into the apartment. Those are days when he gets spooked by something that gets him to race to the door.

Fatty

It's hard to avoid the label. Just look at him. Guess Smokey's resolution for the new year will have to remain the same as last year: gotta lose some weight!
