The face of innocence

Look at that face. Is that a face of innocence?

Well, that is not at all an innocent face. Just moments before, Smokey meowed pleadingly at me but I ignored him because it was not time to eat yet. So then he bit my arm before swiftly retreating to the space beneath the chair.

It is not a face of innocence.

Couch potato 3

A cat after my own heart. Turns out Smokey likes watching Asian dramas. Our Christmas guest shared her iPad with Smokey and it turns out he is a fan.

So much so, he climbed onto the air mattress to get more comfortable. Silly Smokey, you're watching it sideways!

"Oh, you are right. This is much better."

Smokey listens to Tchaikovsky!

...well, only the high pitch violin notes. We were listening to Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto and Smokey was grooming himself. Every so often he would stop suddenly, eyes wide. We figured out it was whenever the violin pitch was at its highest. When the sound stopped, he continued grooming.

Our kitty cat is musically talented, don't you think? We're going to sign him for music lessons.

By the way, Smokey is totally our practice baby. We're showering all our excitement and praise on Smokey in hopes we can get all that out of our system when we actually have a baby. Haha. We'll see how well this works.

Kotatsu* Smokey

I put Smokey in the walk-in closet during the move. Not for the whole move, just when the movers brought in the furniture and boxes. He meowed woefully at his plight at first but quieted down after a while. Also, I swear, every time one particular mover walked in, I would hear Smokey let out a sad yowl.

When I finally opened the door to let Smokey out, he was nowhere to be found. About a minute into freaking out about where a cat could possibly have gone in a completely enclosed space and whether one of the movers had opened the door, Smokey emerged from the pile of bed linens stuffed into the back corner of the closet.

*Kotatsu is in reference to Kotatsu Maru. A kotatsu is a low table with a blanket, sometimes with a heating source, to keep people warm at the table.
